THE HUMBLE PETITION of Dorothy
Brewer of the Italian Convent
Hostel, 36 Caine Road, in the
Colony of Hong Kong, on behalf
of herself and her husband,
Noel Instone Brewer, at present
residing in London, Barrister-at-Law
respectfully showeth as follows:-
1. Noel Instone Brewer was on the twenty-third day of
January, 1930, convicted of perjury and was sentenced to
four months' imprisonment, which sentence was duly served.
2. The Attorney-General reported this conviction to the
Benchers of the Middle Temple of which Mr.Brewer is a member.
3. As a result of the action of the Attorney-General the
full facts of the case were brought before the Benchers of the
Middle Temple, who thereupon made the following order:
"This Bench having duly considered all the documents in two files submitted to them, and which among other documents contain a record of the proceedings upon which the conviction took place, and having heard Noel Instone Brewer, are unanimously of the opinion that they cannot find any justification for the conviction, and do not see their way to take any disciplinary action."
